Looking at your website, we noticed an interesting coincidence of dates: 1945 – 2025. What do they represent?
In 2025, PROCOS will celebrate a very important milestone: our 80th anniversary. Since 1945, we have experienced decades of innovation and constant growth, thanks to the tireless work and dedication of our employees and the continuous support of the CBC Group, of which we have been a part since 2006. This celebration will be characterized by a series of events and activities that will feature our partners, our friends and our employees, who are the secret of PROCOS’s success. Along with this important celebration, we also highlight the new R11 production department. This state-of-the-art facility, with 4 floors and an area of 4,000 square meters, will increase the production capacity of the entire plant to 700 m3, thanks to a total investment of approximately 80 million euros. The construction work is almost complete, and the next goal is to finalize the implementation and qualification in 2025, to be fully operational in 2026. This investment will not only create new job opportunities and contribute to the economic growth of Cameri and the surrounding cities but will also allow us to offer a more comprehensive service to our clients, both innovators and generic drug producers, ensuring sustainable access to high-quality medicines for all patients. Furthermore, we intend to expand our horizons by investing and thinking outside the box. Speaking of investments, PROCOS is always looking for new opportunities that can ensure continuous and sustainable growth. We are currently evaluating several strategic projects that will affect key areas of our business. These investments are designed to secure our future expansion, allowing us to remain competitive and continue providing innovative and high-quality solutions to our clients. Our vision is to grow not only in terms of production capacity but also in terms of skills and resources to successfully meet the challenges of the future.
Finally, 2025 will be a year of double celebrations for us. In addition to our 80th anniversary, we will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of CBC CO., LTD. Being part of a group with such a rich and prestigious history fills us with pride.

 

How has your year as CEO of the year been?
It has been a year of challenges but also of great satisfaction. Every success achieved is the result of teamwork, and this award, received a year ago, is a recognition that I share with all members of the PROCOS team. Receiving the “CEO of the Year” award was a great honor, but this recognition goes beyond personal success. It not only strengthens our company’s reputation but also demonstrates our commitment to excellence, innovation, and strategic partnerships.

 

How is PROCOS’s ESG journey progressing?
We began our ESG journey a couple of years ago, partnering with external professionals to ensure the most sustainable growth possible, focusing on the three essential pillars of ESG: environmental, social, and governance.

 

Regarding the environmental aspect, we are carefully evaluating all the impacts of our production processes on natural resources and promoting their conscious use. We are particularly attentive to the management of CO2 emissions, and an initiative we hold dear is our adherence to the Science Based Targets. This commitment set decarbonization goals based on scientific methodologies, aiming to halve CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2050. The goals set by each company will be evaluated and certified, ensuring they are scientifically valid and ambitious. From a social perspective, worker safety is our absolute priority. Additionally, we are committed to respecting and promoting human rights in all our operations. Our attention to social aspects is deeply rooted in the history of the CBC group. Since its origins, the group has placed a strong emphasis on ethical and social issues, as evidenced by historical documents.

 

Lastly, governance aspects are at the core of every decision we take. Every business strategy is developed with awareness and care, anticipating opportunities and risks. We believe that being truly sustainable means exactly this: anticipating changes to continuously improve and create lasting value over time, both for shareholders and for the territory in which we operate.

 

If you were to compare PROCOS to a historical figure, who would it be and why?
Reflecting on our journey that began in 1945 and where we stand today, I have no doubt that PROCOS can be compared to the figure of Aeneas, who, after the fall of Troy, set out with his father and son driven by a sense of duty (pietas) to found a new homeland. The entire journey of this hero, carried out with a sense of duty and above all with resilience, can also be seen in the steps PROCOS has taken since that distant 1945. For PROCOS, resilience means finding the resources and strength to embark on new growth paths, and it is this ability to reinvent ourselves, to see potential in difficulties, and to turn challenges into opportunities that makes us unique and strong. Our people are the real winning element of our organization; their grit and determination allow us to look to the future with passion and confidence.

 

Enrico Zodio, CEO, Procos

 

Born in Padova Italy, in 1965, Mr. Zodio’s life has always been directed towards the world of Pharma, but what makes him unique is certainly his ability to adapt, his proud and combative spirit and, above all, his foresight. Mr. Zodio studied at Padova University, he earned a degree in Chemistry and after 8 years in other Chemical Pharma Companies, he finally joined PROCOS in 1999. He spent 10 years working in global sales before becoming the CEO in 2010.
